Thematic Interest & Activities
Our philosophy is to offer
memorable travel experiences through lodging, cuisine and
excursions, highlighting and enhancing the culture and nature of
the place, while assuring the comfort, intimacy and individual
preferences of our guests.
For thousands of years, San Pedro de Atacama has been an oasis
at which travelers stopped for the necessary water, food,
shelter and rest to continue their voyage.
In this ancient site, surrounded by a historical wall which for
centuries has sheltered cattle drivers and shepherds, we have
created a house made of stone, adobe and wood where we want to
continue with the noble task of sheltering those travelers who
take the leap to live the unforgettable experience of the
Atacama Desert.
Awasi is a place for contemplating immensity, enjoying the basic
details of simple life, and gratifying the body and soul, inside
and out.
The hotel is located a few blocks from the town Square, the
antique Church and the Museum. This is ideal for guests who wish
to enjoy the "life of town" in comfort, and to know what life
was like and still is in the millennial Atacama oases.
The Atacama Desert is an adventure, an endless number of shapes,
volcanoes, dry salt lakes, ponds and waters emerging in the
midst of the desert… pure nature in its most powerful
expression. Exploring the Atacama shows the different facets of
this incredible desert, its geography, its history and hamlets
that bear millennial tradition and culture.
At Awasi, outings are individual and private, personally
tailored for each guest… customized for the most adventurous,
for the faithful hiker, for the lover of heights, and for those
who just want to be surprised.
An Awasi jeep and one of our professional guides are always
available for private excursions so that our guests can take the
outings according to their own preferences and pace. The Awasi
guides are experienced professionals who have been trained to
carry out the outings in an entertaining and safe way. We have a
fleet of jeeps specially prepared for the difficult conditions
of the desert and the altitude, which lets us drive comfortably
over off-road courses and thus access unique, exclusive sites
and landscapes. In order to always operate with maximum safety,
all our vehicles are equipped with a GPS unit and VHF or
satellite telephones.
