Thematic Interest
& Activities
The Château was built 1709 by the
first president of the burgundy parliament on the foundations of
an old cistercian abbey. It is located in the close neighbourhood
of the famous Château Clos de Vougeot and surrounded by numerous
world-known wine-growing regions.
From the beginning, the Château has been in the focal point of
burgundy history, as it was seat of numerous important
personalities from politics and nobility.
Monchs of the cistercians have cultivated the land and kept their
possessions here until the French revolution. Therefore, they have
a place of honour in the own wine museum which has been installed
in the old venerable vaulted cellar roof.
Château André Ziltener is specialised in the sale of French
top-wines. The headquarters and the Domaine are located directly
at the “Route des Grands Crus” in Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy.
We cultivate and process the harvest of vineyards at the
Côte-de-Nuits and the Côte-de-Beaune. Furthermore, we choose
several other proveniences from selected producers.
Wine cellar
" Le vin de Bourgogne allume les Yeux, Chauffe la Bouche, Enflamme
le Corps, Embrase le C œur et fait Etinceler l’Esprit" (Pierre
Poupon)
A comfortable wine cellar invites our hotel guests and winelovers
to taste the famous burgundy wines. The special ambience of the
old vaulted cellar roofs combined with a competent wine advice
will make the wine-tasting a very special experience.
Besides the long-standing relations to local wine-growers and
Domaines, the Château André Ziltener has entertained good
relations to the Bordelais for several years, inter alia to the
winery of Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). Château André Ziltener
sells various Rothschild wines exclusivly in several countries.
Wine museum
An interesting small wine museum in the old vaulted cellar roof of
the abbey represents the historic past of the Château.
A special preciousness is the last remaining example of an ancient
map of the duchy burgundy from 1763. The Ziltener family has
aquired this map a an auction.
A copy of the map is shown in our own wine museum while the
original is exposed in the “Musée du Vin” in the “Salle des
Ambassadeurs” in Beaune as loan. This map is a special showpiece
of unique historic significance and has been made by the best
royal cartographers and geometrics.
